The second time's the charm they say. The first time we went up to Antipolo on a Thursday, with the intent of eating at this Swiss hideaway, it was closed. We weren't advised that it only opens on weekends, and so, we settled instead in one of the "overlooking" restaurants along the highway, which is what the whole stretch is popular anyway.
So, a month after,on a Friday, we were able to try home-cooked Swiss food in a quaint home setting which has gained quite a considerable number of reviews.
The place is not so impressive, from the outside and parking will be tricky especially of you are afraid of heights (read: you have to park in the slopes) but I guess, good Swiss home-cooked meal is what they would like to focus on. And good Swiss home-cooked meal is what you will be getting.
We decided to order one appetizer, one soup, one pasta and one main course. I guess it will be a waste driving all the way up for just a light meal. So, for the appetizer we got the Swiss Platter--supposedly a plate of "homemade goodness" which includes smoked cold cuts and salmon, bread and butter. We also got the Italian Farmer's Soup which simply is a thick concoction of pumpkin and potato, with basil and bacon (although I did not recognize the bacon), we got the Ricotta Spinach Ravioli in Al Panna Sauce with Truffle Oil and we weren't able to resist the Osso Buco for the main course.

It was like visiting your tita's house, food and ambiance-wise.

Vieux Chalet's Swiss Platter |
The Swiss platter was pretty interesting. I was expecting more salmon and cold cuts, but it was enough for two (to three) people. The bread was homemade, and it was soft and good, and If I wasn't on a diet, I would have wanted to eat more.

Italian Farmers Soup |
I honestly cannot remember much about the soup, other than it was thick, and it was good for two people.

Ricotta Spinach Ravioli in Al Panna Sauce with Truffle Oil |
The raviolli was a bit bland for my taste, but the pasta was chewy which I really liked.

OMG Osso Buco!

The Osso Buco was good, but really pricey compared to the ones we individually tried prior. At Php 900++ we were expecting a bigger portion. This one is good for sharing but for those with really big appetites, this is good for one person.
After eating we went down and walked around the pool and the bed and breakfast side called St. Moritz Swiss Inn. All the lights were on and it kind of felt like Christmas :)
