Comfort Food
We all need comfort food in our lives--some more than the others, usually for pick-me uppers, stress relief or reward. And whilst we know that emotional eating does not solve any of our problems nor drive our stresses away anyway, we still indulge and justify.
One of my (and my kid's) personal favorite comfort restaurant is Mary Grace Cafe-this beautifully and quaintly detailed restaurant in Makati, Ortigas, Serendra, Alabang and even Fairview Terraces!
My personal favorite among the menu has always been the Leek and Saffron plate, the apple pie (top 10 according to spot.ph, because it still remains crunchy after being baked) and of course, even though I have stopped taking too much sugar nowadays, the mint chocolate drink which is just very thick for my own good. My kid likes the Vongole pasta and orders it EVERY SINGLE TIME. She calls it the "clean pasta" because the sauce is white and well, clean.
For me, Mary Grace is all about good vibes. Stepping inside is like going in your persnickety aunt's home--ambiance is good and the food is even better! Its like Christmas all year round! It also helps that The staff are also consistently attentive and courteous and gives you what you want, exactly how you want it.

Mary Grace Apple Pie--crunchy apples even though it has been baked already. This was on Spot.ph's top 10 for 2013 |

I particularly like how the tables have notes under the glass, usually about how the customers enjoyed the experience, random sharing of what their favorites are and that they are coming back. Interestingly, these are always new--I've long suspected that the staff are the ones writing the notes at times (much like what I heard re the confession piece section on male's magazines), but then again, with a restaurant this good, why doubt? :)
