Finding Marcia Adams
I first read about Marcia Adams in a restaurant review on a broadsheet and I found it quite intriguing. After all, I have always associated Tuscany or anything that resembles it with my favorite Diane Lane movie "Under the Tuscan Sun"--a beautiful finding yourself movie that I have watched so many times over as a kid.
So imagine my happiness when the chance to go there presented it self.

Door Knocker, obviously |
Finding Marcia Adams had been a bit tricky, but thank the technology gods there is waze. Marcia Adams is situated in Tagaytay, but not along the main highway. You have to do a few turns to be able to find the place. We first saw the cars parked outside and the huge door with a lion knocker. It cannot be opened though and the ladies outside selling papaya and other fruits told us to use the side entrance.
There was a brick pathway at the side entrance, and random plants and flowers on both sides, some unkempt and some probably strategically placed, but all contributed to the whole rustic feel of the place. There were also thoughtfully placed knickknacks--from pots to fountain to the brick floors and mismatched furnitures that added more character.
There were two main dining areas, and a sunset viewing area overlooking plantations of corn (i think).
According to the article I read on Philippine Daily Inquirer, "Marcia Adams is owned by Marcia Ciupan, a culinary artist who is married to a Britih engineer, Neil Adams. The couple bought a two-hectare farm in Cavite, travelled to the Mediterranean to choose the best elements of architecture and cuisine, and implemented it there."
The Marcia Adams daily menu is a three-course meal, with price ranging from Php 700-Php 1500, and only accepts cash. You get the soup OR appetizer, main course and the dessert. They of course, in true Italian tradition, generously serves delicious and freshly baked bread.
Since my friend and I are used to sharing food, we ordered the Amalfi Prawns (appetizer), Galician Soup, Grilled Aromatic Pork (main 1), Chicken Kebab (main 2), Panacotta with Lemon Sauce (dessert 1) and the Pavlova (dessert 2), and it was more than enough for two!
Marcia Adams is the perfect place to dine on special occasions or just random, spur of the moment meals with your special someone. Afterall, Tagaytay is home to a lot of beautiful garden restaurants such as Moon Garden, Antonios and Sonya's, and if you want to open a really sustainable restaurant garden, then you better offer something more fabulous than those regulars that a lot of people grow up going to.
